FREE Tax Workshop for Artists Tuesday, March 23, 2010 12 noon – 1:30 pm Tacoma Public Library Main Branch, Olympic Room 1102 Tacoma Avenue S., Tacoma, WA Presented by Washington Lawyers for the Arts and Stephanie Anderson and Darcie Christopher from K&L Gates This FREE tax workshop is designed specifically to address arts and entertainment issues in federal and state taxes. Topics to be covered will include: How to calculate income Business structures What deductions and credits can be claimed Record keeping Things artists should care about when planning and preparing their taxes Although the workshop is FREE, space is limited. Presenters: Darcie Christopher is an associate in the Seattle office of K&L Gates, where she focuses her practice on federal, state and international tax issues for both foreign and domestic clients. She has worked on a variety of tax issues related to mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity financings, choice of entity, and general employee benefit issues, including those related to executive compensation and Section 409A. She has also advised clients in respect of partnership, limited liability company, and general corporate tax issues. Darcie also advises clients with regard to general corporate matters. Stephanie Anderson has experience in the field of state and local tax. Her experience includes representing clients in mergers and acquisitions and advising clients with respect to gross receipt, sales and use, net income, ad valorem, real estate excise and public utility taxes in the context of private rulings, administrative appeals, state and local tax planning and litigation. Ms. Anderson also assists clients with credits and incentives, audit defense, site selection and other state tax issues.Before joining K&L Gates, Ms. Anderson worked in the Seattle offices of KPMG LLP and Deloitte Tax where she focused her practice on state and local tax matters. |
