I didn't know if anyone might be interested. They usually meet at the Poulsbo library. Usually their meetings aren't web specific, but I thought some of you might be interested. I've pasted the information below:
~Joyce November 19 meeting: State of the Art Web In an very short time the World Wide Web has grown from simple HTML pages to complex sites with e-commerce and collaboration capabilities. Expensive and proprietary Web Content Management Systems (WCMS) designed for building complex sites have given way to dozens of free or low-cost versions that are increasingly powerful. While there are common features, some WCMS offer unique benefits and specializations. This meeting will highlight the increasing capabilities of Microsoft SharePoint, the workhorse of corporate web based document sharing, and Joomla, a free, open-source solution with literally thousands of extensions. Expect a spirited audience interaction covering many other areas given a subject familiar to many WSTA members. Business decision maker, web designer, novice or expert, or just looking for a tip or two, come to learn best practices, benefits and trade-offs, how to choose the right WCMS and build a website that takes business to the next level. Presenters include Jeremy Moff of Moff Interactive and Doug Rauh of Unified Industries. Cost: Free to WSTA members and guests with member passes; $10 for non-members. Refreshments and monthly geek raffle prize for members. Registration is required - http://bit.ly/1YASdI... |
