I am looking for an easy wizard to add a user name and password to about 100 of my web pages for each individual customer. Since my site is hosted on a Linux server, I can't use AXP.net. I am not a programmer and I am still confused about PHP so that is not a path I want to take. Any recommendations?
I found a SW program from MTOPSOFT called "HTML Password Lock". It says it is "Based on the strong algorithms, it will thoroughly encrypt your entire page with password, and the password will not be stored in the encrypted page, so that no one can get in unless he know the correct password. You can protect the web page with one password, or manage more than 1000 users/passwords. It is based on JavaScript technology, the encrypted web page can work with any modern browser (IE5.x, 6.x, Netscape 4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 7.x, Opera 6.x and above), no additional browser extension software is needed. On the server side, it supports all kinds of hosting server, no CGI, ASP, PHP, Web DB or any special web software is needed." Also, I've heard that some people don't have JavaScript enabled....do you see this often? Do you use JavaScript in your websites? Your thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much....Bobbie |

To turn Javascript or Java on/off help: http://kb.iu.edu/data...
Glad to hear you found a solution for adding password protection to pages. Is that working okay for you? Re: javascript I like this discussion: http://www.webmasterw... Someone that peruses the adult websites might want to turn off all scripting as a security measure. Yesterday I had a visitor that could not open a pdf file. I directed him to the free Adobe reader website. Your users may need to be instructed to turn Javascript on - if they are a special interest group, then is should be no problem. |
