June Web Design Meetup

Peninsula Library (map)

Selected By: Eric A.

Anyone interested in web design, development, or running websites can attend: whether you're a website owner, a designer, developer, student, or just want to learn more.

We're meeting at the Pierce County Library again since they have a large meeting room and free wireless access. Please RSVP if you plan to attend.

Agenda

Happy to announce that we have Karen Worstell, MS, CISM, an information security expert, who will give a presentation entitled:

Security Update: Top 10 Things to Keep You Awake At Night and What to Do About Them

Karen has an impressive amount of experience in information security and we're lucky that she's agreed to come speak.

So, put on your thinking caps and bring your security-related questions.

Thanks Alan! I really enjoy that video too and definitely appreciate Dan's commitment to going the extra mile to 'handcraft' sites. :)

Great security presentation last night by Karen! A good follow up topic would be how to make our sites more secure... I'm not sure where to start.

Anne, I am in agreement. Karen shook us awake and delivered the big picture, now we need the specifics as designers or developers.

Excellent presentation! It was good to get the overview of the problem from a non-tech person with all her experience! Difficult to find solutions when you're too close to the detail of the problem.

Karen Worstell gave an amazing (and paranoia-inducing) presentation on web security and what developers can do to help increase security.

Many thanks to Karen for the very enlightening and thought provoking presentation! I'm researching the links to try to make a plan for better security for my sites. It may be good to follow up to share what we all come up with. :)

Karen gave a great presentation that was thought provoking for sure. She's a true pro in her field and it was great to have her at our meetup!

Karen Worstell gave us the big picture on security and I found it quite valuable. From the amount of questions and discussion it seems that security is on the minds of most attendees. Will be checking the links she gave us and try to find ways to make my sites more secure.
