Anyone interested in web design, development, or running websites can attend: whether you're a website owner, a designer, developer, student, or just want to learn more.

Agenda

Leveraging Adobe Photoshop for website mockups

Demo will cover time-saving techniques for using Photoshop to create the visual design for a website from scratch, and then slice out images to later be used with HTML & CSS.

Some specific tricks will be covered including:

Layer groups for better organization
Keyboard shortcuts to quickly select and move layer elements without having to hunt them down in the layers pallet
Using "copy merged" to grab selected areas for slicing out
Using "Save For Web" for image optimization and transparency

We'll also discuss the differences between Photoshop, Fireworks, and the Gimp.

This was my first Meetup with the Gig Harbor Web Design group. I was impressed by the sophistication and professionalism and I really enjoyed the questions, comments, and exchange of ideas. I learned some things and had a good time. Thanks Sean, Eric, and everyone.
